Paintings
Welcome to my gallery. First of all, a few words about me: Victor Riis, born is Siberia in 1949. Graduated from the Russian University of Theatre Arts (GITIS), specialized in directing, I’ve spent more than thirty years in the world of circus. I started to draw from my very childhood, without taking any course. As my inspiration is dependent on my mood and feelings: I can stay away from an easel for years, then suddenly paint for days. You’ll find around some of my works from different time periods and a few new ones, which I didn’t have the time to show.
NB: Until 1991 my paintings were signed “VR”.

Russian realism with a steampunk touch. A few names can be given to this painting, I'll let you find yours.

This painting was featured in the 2006 edition of the "Russian Visual Arts" magazine.

A canonical representation of St. Nicholas the Miracle-Maker

Alexander Grimailo - My old friend, fellow member of GITIS and director, published "Jesters" in 2012. My reading inspired me a cover idea. A representation of a well known person of the Russian cirucs.

I live in Brittany, France and I'm very enthusiastic about the history of this land. Anne de Bretagne remains one of the most well-known historical figure in France.

Painted in 2012, during the launch of the Russian pre presidential election campaign. I insist on the "launch" term, as it's nothing personal towards the president, but I really wanted to show the hopeless situation at that time. I consider that, along with "Children fears", this painting is surrealist.
